Resumen de proyecto de investigación
Me especialicé en el estudio de las estrategias reproductivas de plantas con flores, con el propósito de identificar los factores extrínsecos (densidad, fragmentación, urbanización) e intrínsecos (rasgos florales) que explican la variabilidad en el éxito reproductivo. Actualmente he concentrado mis investigaciones en el estudio de las plantas en ambientes urbanos bajo tres perspectivas: los factores que explican la diversidad de especies de plantas que ocurren en la infraestructura verde urbana (jardines domésticos, techos verdes, arbolado, veredas), los factores que promueven la interacción planta-animal con foco en los recursos tróficos provistos por las plantas a los animales polinizadores en ambientes urbanos, y las estrategias reproductivas de las plantas en el contexto de urbanización. Me interesa especialmente el diseño de estrategias de reintroducción de flora nativa en ambientes urbanos, para lo cual estudio y aplico herramientas analíticas de decisión que permiten integrar criterios de selección dentro de un mismo esquema de decisión, y obtener una ponderación de las especies de plantas con mejores posibilidades de contribuir a la funcionalidad de la infraestructura verde.
